The Night of the Witches
Come to San Giovanni in Marignano from 20th to 24th June 2018 and enjoy the magic of this small village in celebration.
For many years now, on the night between 23th and 24th June the Night of Saint John is celebrated, a night of mysteries and magic, because falling on the day of the solstice, it was believed that the sun and the moon were married and from their marriages were born beneficial energies on the earth and especially herbs wet with dew, from which they could create powerful drugs able to cure any skin disease. The legend of the night of San Giovanni, tells that at this particular moment the witches gathered to make their spells, and that's how the name became Night of the Witches .
To escape the danger of these malefics, the most superstitious, put under the clothes some herbs of San Giovanni, such as garlic and lavender;
others, on the doorstep, left a broom so that when the witch arrived in front of the house, she had to stop and count every strand of the broom, thus lingering until dawn, when she had to return to beyond.
But these witches were young women who, to help the sun rise, met in the fields and lit fires;
but it was also believed that because of disappointments of love they gathered herbs wet with dew, as a symbol of protection.
To reconcile tradition and magic, the night of the witches' festival is born, which this year celebrates its 30th birthday, born to rediscover traditions and legends.
This event will take place from 20th to 24th June 2018, always in the small village of San Giovanni in Marignano, and get there is very easy!
If you arrive by car, just exit at Cattolica-San Giovanni and then follow the signs for Gabicce arrive in a moment, but also by train is simple, just get off at Cattolica-San Giovanni station and from there take the shuttles that will take you directly at the entrance to the party.
There will be so many events and shows that you can participate in these five days!
You will find events for every age, both for the little ones but also for the older ones!
There will be face painting, jugglers, rides, you can listen to exciting readings on witches, admire shows with fire, but there will also be many markets where you can taste street food or take home with you, as tradition requires, the ancient herbs of San Giovanni .

It might be only a 3star hotel but the service and feeling you get at this hotel corresponds to 5 stars. The management and the staff are super kind and always at your disposal. They always try to accomplish your demands, no matter what: Nicole is a young and super professional hotel manager and at the same time very humble. Her always smily attitude is very infectuous. She is that kind of person who expects you warmly at the entrance and even helps with the luggage. Camilla her desk manager is a sweetheart. Same for all other staff. They all seem to have a special connection, like a big family. That's why you get the feeling to be at home from day 1. We ( family with 2 girls of 9 & 5 yrs) have been going to Riccione since three years in spring and surprisingly we must say that our satisfaction increases every year. From room comfort to the tasty meals. Last but not least...their holiday animator is a great plus and a big attraction not only for the kids. This year a talented young lady, Marilena, is there to entertain your kids with her lovely and funny ways. For us....Adelphi 4 ever❤
